I think it is an excellent value if you don't think you will be taking pictures of kids or things that won't stay still. I have toddlers to deal with so my requirements are probably different from yours. Butterfly has the G600 for $223 delivered, and that is a great price for a camera of that quality and Mp.

Dont worry about whether or not your camera will be outdated in a couple of years. I have a 2.5 year old Fujifilm A202. The only reason I got a new camera it because I wanted more features & higher MP. I still use the A202 when I dont want to take the larger S2 IS with me. The A202 takes the same quality pictures as the S2 IMO,if the conditions are good, although only at 2MP.
