Hi everyone. I really like the A640 - swivel screen, THE GRIP, recharhable NIMH batteries that last forever, and $200 cheaper
BUT, I also want to learn about photography, and the G7, with its live histogram, full (and easier to access) manual controls, better low light imaging is extremely tempting. I'm curious how other people chose between them, and if you think the G7 is worth the extra money, given NO swivel screen .... Do tell me everything ![]() Thanks! -Eric |

I don't know ifvery many peoplethink the G7 is worth $200 more than the A640. Why do you say that the G7 has "better low light imaging"? I don't think it does. Check out the G7 and A640 reviews at DCResource.com.
My take on the G7 is that for the extra $200, you get: Image stabilization Longer-lasting movie mode ISO dial 6x vs 4x zoom Great build quality Larger LCD, but lose the swivel aspect. Less than 1/2 the battery life. |
