Default Advice please...

Hello Everyone,

Here's the deal, my wife wants a new camera since she lost her last one. She cant decide if she wants a dslr or a point and shoot type of camera (She has mentioned wanting a dslr type of camera more often as she see people taking pics with them). If its a point and shoot, I want good quality with good flash. I have no idea about dslr cams, but would like t built in screen and be able to upgrade lenses as needed. She is using it for general use (family, parties, etc) so nothing too fancy or expensive. I like the Canon PowershotSX30 IS, but not sure if its able to upgrade lens-wise. Any reccomendations?

Thank you!

The SX30 is a fixed-lens camera - not interchangeable lenses. Check out the micro-4/3 cameras. They are relatively small, interchangeable lenses, in essence, they are a DLSR without a mirror. I'm sure someone else will be jumping in to help out.

Canon S95 is perfect for parties. Lots of fun features, pocketable and has one of the larger sensors available for this class of camera. It's a really fun toy. 'Course the $400 price tag could pay for a big chunk of a DSLR or micro-4/3..
