The Panasonic 'Z' series looks interesting. I do not like proprietary batteries and the Panasonic LZ5
has optical stabilization, 640 X 480 fps, takes AA batteries and 6X optical zoom. Not bad for a small camera. It got a decent review from Steve's (except for a noise problem).

I would recommend a Panasonic FZ 30, an 8 meg cam- 12 x optical lens. (lens made by Leica of Germany- or are you too young to appreciate Leica quality?).

The FZ 30shoots in 640 or 320 at 30fps, or 10fps, with audio. And will shoot as long as the card will hold- SD card. An excellent cam. selling around 499. Weight around 1.5 lb as I recall.

Uses a Lithium Ion Battery.

The FZ-30 is sweet. But,

Let's not forget the Canon S3iS quite yet...

I still have my S1is...:?

Is their anything with a microphone jack?

Do other people want one? I want to be able to interview (myself and others) and narrate.
I have destroyed three Casio Ex p505's trying to add a microphone:whack:.

Wow. Thanks for all this info. I looking at digital camera with 640x480 @ 25fps or more video mode. It need to have more than 10x optical zoom, and the one thing that i dont find in ANY of cam is: that i can record around 1hour video 640x480 @ 25fps at 2gb card. No cam have this yet, thats why i think i will wait for new ones that will add mpeg 4 movie mode (maybe S4 IS).
