I have been dabbling in photography using my sisters Olympus C- 5050.
Finally i have decided to buy a good camera so i can spend more time on my new found hobby. I have been looking into the Canon Powershot pro 1 but have also been thinking about getting a low end dSLR such as the Nikon D50. Now my question is do i go for the pro 1 and learn the basics, get comforatble and then buy a dSLR later down the road or do i dive right in and get the D50 dslr. Im trying to factor in the point of me being able to learn and do more with a better piece of equipment. Your almighty expertise is grately appreciated. p.s.- Is it a bad idea to buy off reputable stores on ebay? i have found that the prices seem resonable and many kits are avaiable. your input again is grately appreciated. |

Go for the DSLR.
Much less chance you will outgrow the DSLR. You could try Ebay or go with a reputable online dealer like B&H photo video. The nice thing about a DSLR is you can get different lenses and try out different things. Generally the photo quality and responsiveness of a DSLR is worth the extra $'s. -- Terry |

Terry is correct. Ebay is safe. The Nikon D-50 is a great choice.
