I am currently using a Canon A-590 for digiscoping, but wondering if there is a sharper camera that is suitable? The Canon A-650 and the Canon A-720 cameras have optical systems a bit too large to fill the frame when used with an astro Expanse 20mm eyepiece. I do not want to zoom over 1.5X for good resolution. Of course cameras more than 2 years old are toast as far as modern resolution goes, and unsuitable. The camera should have full manual control.

A very good candidate may be the Lumix LX3. It has the promising low zoom spec., is physically small. and is sharp.Has anyone tried it for digiscoping?

I do not know if it has a bayonet body mount around the lens. If not it would be a real pain to use. I have already fabricated and silver soldered a couple ofbrackets for other cameras. I must have a 2 inch OD tube attachment to fit the focusers my scopes. Thanks for any ideas. Gene Smith
