Yeah, it will most likely be outdoor shots of kids playing in the backyard. But thanks for your info. I'm going to go with the Pentax K-x

I agree that the K-x is a way better choice over the D3000. It is a much better camera in pretty much all respects. Way better low light performance. Has HD at 720 if video is something you are interested in.

It may not fit 100% of your needs with the kit lens, but it is a much better starting point then the D3000. And it has a great price point also.
