Hi,
I am looking to purchase a compact point and shoot for a christmas present. The main focus I suppose is great picture quality and colour, not too fussed about mp, zoom. Needs to shoot well indoors, low lighting (as well as a compact can!!!) Budget wise is around £200... I have been looking at the Canon PowerShot SX230 as it seems to have good reviews. What are you guys thoughts? Any better suggestions? Last edited by edmundli; Dec 8, 2011 at 7:56 AM. Reason: Wrong camera! |

The SX40 seems like a significant improvement over the previous SX30.
However, it is not a compact camera and the price is over twice your budget. As you say you are not concerned about zoom range and you want good results in low light, maybe you would consider one of the more expensive compact cameras with a larger image sensor. Canon S90 or S100. Panasonic LX5. Olympus XZ1. These are also a bit over budget, but a little cheaper than the SX40. |
