My husband and I arehave been looking at these models of super-zoom
cameras. We had been considering the Nikon D50, but it is out of our price range right now. We do alot of traveling, especially cruising, so our camera would mostly be used for vacation pictures-indoors and out. We looked at both of these models today, and want to make our purchase later this week as we are cruising in June. We are leaning towards the Canon, since we currently have a Canon S-50, but the Sony looks nice as well, and is a little cheaper. Like I said, weneed something that will do indoors and out. Thanks for any input. |

The Canon S-2 IS and the Sony H-1 IS are pretty equal. IMHO the Canon S-2 IS has the edge, due to its better video clip mode a super macro capability. I would not rule out a DSLR camera, especially the Nikon D-50. Yes, it will cost a bit more, but you will in turn get much better photos, and much better camera functionality with the interchangeable lenses. A June cruise sounds either like Alaska or Europe.
