I currently have a Nikko775 and is happy with it, except for a few flaws outlined below. I am using my camera for primarily plant photography. Can you help guide me to a camera based on my indications below:
  • Price no more than $500[/*]
  • no compact camera[/*]
  • must have very very good macro[/*]
  • must be able to control white balance, shutter, aptitude (e.g. allow manual)[/*]
  • a camera which is able to handle flash with macro would be nice (without excessive washout)
I have been looking at for example canon G3 (but the problems with lens blocking flash in wide troubles me a bit. how big a problem is it really ?)

Right now I have a big problem of oversaturation of colors (especially reds) when shooting, and the existing camera is slow to focus. also offcenter focus is not giving good results when flash used. Also flash will 'bleach' photos in macro setting.
