This would be my first digital camera so.. which one would be best for point and shoot but with some manual controls so I could play around with it. Also quality pictures, size, and not breaking easily matters too.

I have personally tried the 610.. It's one of the best rated cams of that type out there.. Where in Canada are you?.. I got mine for 399. cdn.

The A610 and the A620 are the same ,the only diffrence is 5MPvs. 7.1MP, and $100 if you don't need 7.1MP then the A610 is a nice point and shoot + some manual controls, good luck.

If you want manual controls you can eliminate the SD450 and F10.
The W7 is a little smaller and lighter so you might have it with you more than the A620. The W7 doesn't appear to have aperture and shutter priority. If those prices are correct get the A620 over the A610. You usually get less noise with the lower density sensor, but in those two particular sensors the 7Mp is better. You get a little extra zoom range and more complete manual controls with the A620 over the W7. You might want to price the Casio Z120. It is quite small and has full manual everything. The Z120 has a much better control setup for using those manual features than does the A620. It has a good lens and resolution. |

If size is an issue, then choose the the smaller, more handy to have with you at all times, Casio Z-120, it has the same imager as the Canon A-620, full manual and automatic controlsand is selling here for around $(US) 225.00.
That is a package that is hard to beat. MT |

p200 is a joke to me.. poor colors, poor construction. Good reason as to why not avail.

VWmom is correct!
The P-200 will be the final P series camera. Production has stopped and what remains in inventory will be all that are available. I think there is a message in that action. Add to that the fact that in certain environments, the P-200 has really had a problem with dust contaiminating the CCD, and you can see a few of the problems. MT |
