I have been researching buying a digital camera for a few months after my 35mm decided to stop working on Christmas Day ! I have spent a lot of time looking at reviews and prices and have finally decided between the two cameras above. I realise that they are quite different and would like some help to decide.

I take a lot of pictures, mainly of my two daughters. When we go on holiday I take around 500 shots of all sorts of different things. I need the camera to be good in low light and have a decent zoom on it although that is not on the top of my list. Good colours are essential and being able to learn to use the camera quickly is another thing high on my list.

Any advice gratefully received.

When you speak of a low light level shooting environment, I immediately think of taking photos without a flash indoors. So my first example, taken with the Kodak Z-712 was takeninside at a painting demonstration (she is working on a portrait of John Lennon)using an ISO setting of 800. It was taken on board the Crown Princess.

My second photo sample is from the Canon A570IS. It was also takenon a cruise ship without flash. It had a fairly low shutter speed, but the photo looks very good.

My third photo sample is from the Panasonic TZ-3, a 7.1mp camera with 10X optical zoom and IS. It was also taken on a cruise ship without flash using an ISO setting of 800.

My 4th photo sample was taken with the Fuji F-20 camera. The F-20 is a 6mp camera with 3X optical zoom. As you most probably know the Fuji F-series cameras have a reputation for taking good photos without using flash. http://www.amazon.com has the F-20 on sale right now for $149.00.

If you are wondering why so many cruise ship photos, the answer is rather simple. My husband and I work on cruise ships.

I apologize that we got a double dose of the #3 photo. Here is the proper #4 photo.
