I'll replace my old A60 soon and I'm between these two models. I know the W5 has less manual controls, but that's enough for me. I'm more worried about photo quality and durability. I've read many complaints about the building quality of the A610, like problems with stuff getting inside the lenses or buttons that doesn't work. I've also read about "vignetting" (darkness around corners) on the A610. I'd like to know if this problem with vignetting is true, and what do you think about the quality and durability of these two cams.

Hello! I have the same question (although I am interested in W15). Which one gives better picture quality, not minding the function difference?

My personal choice would be the Canon A-610/A-620 twins over the Sony W-5. Canon has had a far better track record with cameras of this size and the A-610/A-620 has just received a "highly reccommended" rating at

I was thinking more of W15, because it seems simplier to use, and it comes with battery and charger. And the shape seems better to me. The display is larger also.

You think A610's fotos are much better?
And what about W5's display, i noticed it has only 115,000 pixels, exactly as A610's 2.0''.

I already bought a W15, I found it cheaper and smaller than de A610. The only thing I miss is the rotatory LCD, but the W5 is a great camera.
