The XD card has no problems with scratching or defacing the memory area of the card. In terms of the latest technology, the E-550 has the edge over the Canon A-95. However, the E-550 is certainly, in my personal experience, not a good low light level digital camera, making the Fuji E-550 and the Canon A-95 just about equal.

If the choice was mine, I would be taking a good look at the Fuji F-10. It is just a bit more, price-wise than either the E-550 and the A-95, but has many more features including a huge LCD screen and great low light level capabilities.

I have an E550 and I love it. Though, the low light issues are not a fairy tale. The main problem with the E550 is the lack of an auto assist focus beam. Other than that, I love it. Have taken many great images, and it is lightning fast to startup and all!!!

My friend has an A95. He's taken some incredible shots. It has a nice swivel LCD. Hold 4 AA's, which makes it heavier, and it's a slug in comparison (lens zoom and bootup are slow). It has a longer exposure limit and AF assist light. I like it, but as speaklightly said, it's a bit aged.

No experience on the F10, but I don't think I've heard a bad review about it. And it can do some things the other two can't!! Just keep in mind, there are no manual controls...though I'm sure there are plenty of settings for different types of exposures...

Good luck.
