Hi all, just wondering your opinion on this. Here's my story.

My first and only camera is the Canon A40 (2mp). I was looking to upgrade with either the SD450 or the SD700IS or maybe something else. I can get the SD450 from Dell for about 200 and the SD700 for about 425.

I am going to be using this camera primarily for vacation pictures and leisure acitiviteis. No priting of pictures or any photoshop magic will ever be used. Purely just to capture memories. I am looking for an ultracompact as well.

So with that, I'm not too sure what to get. I love the Canon line up but is the SD450 a little too old? Is it not a big enough upgrade? Should I then consider the SD700IS? The only ohter camera that I liked (a lot) was the Nikon Coolpix S5.

Please help me out!

SD450 would already consdierable update but image stabilization could bevery usefull so my vote would go for SD700IS.
Extra couple stops slower shake free shutter times could be nice feature in vacations.

You're apparently after very compact camera.

I agree with ET.

The better choice in this case, and well worth the extra price, would be the Canon SD-700 IS.
