Just back from our local BestBuy and lo and behold, they had both the D5MKII and D700 cameras side by side. Yes I'd never buy from BestBuy this type of purchase (would support the local camera shop owner who has been more than fair to me over the years) but it did give me a chance to quickly fondle the 2 cameras. The D700 is bigger and heavier IMO than the D2MKII but the controls, without reading any manual, were much easier to run thru with the D700, this even being the case having the Canon 10D and knowing most of how Canon does things.
Now to see if I can get a look & feel of the Sony A900.
