If I understood your prices, are you saying the Canon outfit is 300 Euro LESS than the Nikon? If that's the case I think it's a no brainer if you're leaning that direction. I don't see anything about the D80 that would warrant me paying more for it than the Canon. And from everything I've seen the lens you're looking at is a fantastic lens.

If the Nikon outfit had been less money and you were leaning that way I would advise you in that direction. But since the Canon outfit is less money and your leading candidate go with it. Spend your time taking photographs, not worrying over which one to get (remember either one would be great so you shouldn't have any buyers remorse after the fact).

Doesn't the Canon lens also have the advantage of being stabilized?
