A fairly important thing that most reviews leave out is the FZ28's terrible LCD smearing. It's worth mentioning because the EVF is not too good. Try tracking a subject or moving the camera around and you can't fail to notice. Also, autofocus is erratically (and brutally) slow under most lighting conditions.
You'd be better off with a Powershot SX10 if the size doesn't matter. I've had both and a G10 too. From the original post I don't see how a FZ28 or SX10 would meet your needs. You'll almost certainly want the TZ4/5 instead. |

As you can see by reading this thread, I am a heavy duty Panasonic FZ-28 user. The focusing problem is easily solved. I keep my FZ-28 in spot focus all the time. Not only is the focus much quicker, even in low light levels, but it is very accurate. I follow on stage action all the time through the EVF and have never had any complaints about scree smearing.
