Hi, I'm planning on buying a compact camera that has a 28mm lens with image stabalization. After much research, I've narrowed it down to the Panasonic FX-07/50 or the Canon IXY 850IS. (http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/p800is-i850is/index-e.html)

Which one do you think is better and why? Thanks in advance!

Both camerasare pretty nice and competitively priced. I have friends with both and are both very pleased with their cameras. Pics also look good off of both. I can tell you though that a friends power shot elph lasted through a week at the beach with a hotel room full of drunk people passing it around both in the room and in the sand with no problem and still works well today.(4 years later.) I have also heard similar stories about their durability and construction. Keep in mind though the screens on them now are much larger than then and that is probably the most expensive repair on the camera. I would feel comfortable buying either but at the end of the day i would go with thecanon just because the conditions i have seen themwork in.
