Canon PowerShot A3000 IS vs Samsung SL420

Hey guys,

I need a camera for party pictures and holidays.It should make good photos.

Now i have to decide.

Canon PowerShot A3000 IS = new for 59 €
or
Samsung SL420= used for 75 €


My brother has the Samsung SL420 and the cam is great.

Also both reviews of steve are good.

Which cam is better? or is there a better cam for up to 80-90€?

In my opinion the Samsung SL420 is the better of the two cameras. It has more zoom and better image quality.

ok perhaps i will return the canon or sell it on ebay and will buy the used samsung for 70 €
one question is there a difference between the US model Samsung SL420 and european Samsung Pl60?

or is there another good camera in this price area for my needs?

The Kodak Z915 is in the same price range and is capable of very good image quality, while providing you with 10X optical zoom, instead of the 5X optical zoom found on the SL420.

I think i take the Samsung because the Kodak cost in Germany over 150 € and i get the Samsung for 70 €.

Do anyone know the difference between the Samsung PL60 and SL420 or is there no difference?

I'm using the samsung SL620 right now and it's ok for the uses you want. I'm not sure of pricing over the pond but I bought it in the spring for $110 but have seen it on sale at Best Buy recently for $75 including a soft case.

In germany the SL620 is called Samsung PL65
and there it costs 150 € :-(

Do you know the Samsung PL100 withe t6he screen on the front side?
It looks interesting but do the cam shoots good photos?

The question is which cam should i buy Samsung PL100 or Samsung SL420?

The PL100 looks like it would be ok for a lot of group shots and especially self portraits. I'm not sure how big that screen looks when your are having your picture taken. It might just be a gimmick.
