I'm all confused with Canons new line of cameras.
Wich camera takes better pictures the A610 or the A530. |

The reviews seem toindicate it is the A-610 that takes the better photos.
But the the A-530 is still in the introduction stage. MT |

The A610 has a larger sensor (1 1/8) than the A530 (1 2/5).

I also think that it may well be that Canon wants to have a camera for every market niche.

A610 is the more expensive, and better model.
The A530 is more of a budget model, and even if you have to go with that particular line, the A540 is better. The funny thing is, the A610 has slightly better image quality than the A620, so it is a real steal for most people. But, you would probably want to wait for the A700, just to see how it is. |

Maybe Canon learned how to make smaller sensorsbut better to save battery.
The new A series takes only 2 batteries Vs. the A610/620 has 4. Maybe the new smaller sensors out perform the larger ones. |
