I just bought a S2 recently, but one of my friends has said that I spent my money too early, and that the FZ7 is far superior.
Is that true ? I noticed that Steve seemed to give the FZ7 a fairly high appraisal, so did I make a mistake ? |

There are a LOT of threads on the Panasonic / Canon comparison. Probably just as many different views aswell.
I have been an S2 owner for a while now, and have been extremly happy with it. I've gotten increible photos, the camera suits my needs to a T (video for my todders, zoom for their sports, swivel lcd for those akward toddler shots).. What are you using the camera for? What was your friends reasoning for making this comment? |

I am an amateur enthusiast who is just getting into Digital Cameras.
I use it for all occasions, ie. sports, picnics, indoor parties .... etc. That's why I always buy a camera with built in Image Stabilization. My friend did mention that the FZ7 is 6 MP, and that it had a bigger LCD Screen. So - just wondering if I made my move too soon. |

A difference of 1mp isn't going to change much (you can get a decent print of 10x13 off a 5mp.. Most cams out there are around 5.. there is a current trend of more mp being a marketing ploy. Bigger Lcd isn't really an important feature of a camera.. Doesnt affect your prints or allow you 'onscreen' editing. The differece is minimal. I'd prefer to have a swivel lcd over a larger one anyday.. Have you ever tried taking a picture of yourself without seeing? lol

I surely agree with VWmom! The Panasonic FZ-7 is a totally unknown camera. There have been no reviews that I have seen on the FZ-7. It is a totally unknown quantity. Give it a few months and we will have both reviews and user comments. It is IMHO way too early to judge the FZ-7.
In the meantime, with the Canon S-2 IS you have a very highly rated camera with a legion of faithful and enthusiasticusers. Now can everyone be wrong? Enjoy your camera and don't worry about it. MT |
