I'm going to buy a slr camera very soon I am going to shoot mainly sports football and volleyball and vacation stuff how much better is the 20d compared to the rebel xt and is it worth the extra $350 to buy it??? I plan on keeping this camera for awhile and don't want to have to upgrade in the near future. Thanks in advance.

Both are excellent cameras.
If a camera is excellent now, it will still be excellent in 10 years. I don't understand this 'have to have the latest and greatest' upgrade nonsense. For shooting sport the 20D takes 5 pics/second which is better than the 350's 3, and it also has a high precision auto-focus spot if you have a fast enough lens. It's also bigger, which may or may not be good depending on your hands and is a little bit better built. Picture quality is near identical. All in all, the 20D is a little bit better than the 350, but if you put the $350 difference into a better lens then the 350 could be much better for you. The 350 with a Sigma 70-200f2.8 would be far, far better for sport than a 20D with a 70-300f4-5.6 for example though the price would be similar. It all depends on how much you want to spend. |
