hercules-
Iowned a Canon S-2 was faced with the decision to either move to the Canon S-3 or the Kodak Z-612. Iwent to the Kodak Z-612 and am very pleased with the image quality. I also think that the IS on the Z-612 is better as well. Here is a sample image for you. MT |

Thanks for the reply mt, so you think the Z612 would have better out of camera image quality than the S3 IS right.

hercules-
Yes, I do think that images from either the Kodak Z-612 or the P-712 are better out of the camera than the Canon S-3. Here is Steves's review on the Z-612: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/z612.html Here is the www.megapixel.net review of the Kodak P-712: http://www.megapixel.net/html/reviews.php I believe the IS on the two Kodak cameras is better than the Canon IS. I can consistently shoot handheld without flash at ISO 400 indoors at 1/8th of a second. The attached sample was taken under flourescent lighting with the WB set to Auto. The sample is much better than my S-2 could do. MT |
