I have a Pan. FZ5 and I love the ultrazoom lens. Now I am looking for a compact P&S for everyday use. I am considering the Canon SD500 and the Canon S60 or S70, and leaning toward the latter. My reasoning is as follows: if I purchase the S70, I will have the advantage of a great camera that has wide angle ability vs. the SD500 which is simply an excellent P&S, but without a wide angle lens. It seems to me that having two cameras - one 12x UZ and one with a wide angle will give me the best of both worlds since they are two very different cameras. I'd appreciate your thoughts about this point of view and your opinion of the S70 (or S60) in terms of image quality. :?Thanks all.

I also have a FZ5 that was recently purchased. Spent nearly 2 months reading and comparing camera's and reviews. Friend of mine has the s070 and loves it. Wide angle takes great pictures, especially if you have kids playing sports. Before I purchased the FZ5, I was really considering the S070 or the Sony P200. P200 is more compact, but the S070 is compact enough and has the wide lens. Go with the S070,should get a good price. Camera has been out there for a while..... that is if you can find one.
