Hi,

I am close to purchasing the Canon Powershot SD700 IS. Finally it has started to drop in price (the only bad issue according to reviews). However I have found that the same model, an import labelled Ixy 800 is also available and you can save some cost on this.

The retailer mentions that the only difference is that it is an import model but that's it. Could someone please point out if there are any other issues in purchasing the import version? Could there be any problems with support, maintenance, buying parts etc etc?

Also, I would appreciate any opinions if people generally believe the SD700 is better than the Sony T9 or T30, or not.

Many thanks in advance,
Regards
Y4H

Heres what I found. I'm gonna quote from an other site, "PowerShot SD700 IS (called IXUS 800 in Europe)." So, I would have to say they are the same. AndI don'tknow anything about the Sonys, sorry:sad:.

Thanks buddy.

It's just that I heard an online store salesman say that one version (SD700) is built in Japan and the compoent parts such as battery etc are better whereas the Ixy 800 is built in China and therefore the parts are of less quality and therefore that's why it is cheaper to buy the model in the U.S.

I don't know of that is bull doody or not, but as you say, most say it's exactly the same thing.

Thanks
