Can someone pls provide me some info on the Canon sd800is vs sd900. It is better to go for the sd800 with IS? Or the sd900 with the 10.1 MP?
TIA, Peter |

Check out the above comparison. IS is probably much more use than the extra megapixels. What is your logc for picking the two cameras? What do you plan to shoot? M ps// consider the A710IS as well |

I was looking to replace my older sony p150, I like to have a newer point and shoot. I have a 30d with a 24-105 L lens that is IS. What I'm really curious about is why Canon dropped the IS from the new model.

The new model for canon is actually the 850is.The 900 main selling point is that it has a titanium case.
It has everything the 800is had, but also digicIII, extra megapixels and 28mm. |

The SD900 also puts those extra MP onto a bigger sensor, so it does also have some advantage in overall image quality. A bit better at high ISO in addition to a bit more resolution.
But I'd probably still opt for the wide angle on the SD800. The 28-105mm range just seems alot more useful to me; 37mm is too long to start at. The sample pics also look very good to me, so I'm not really seeing enough IQ difference to pass on that and the IS. |

BTW:
SD800IS = IXUS 850 IS SD900= IXUS 900 Ti SD700IS= IXUS 800 IS I know they get confusing with the different model numbers. But those 2 models, SD800IS and SD900, were introduced at exactly the same time. Both Digic III. Just slightly different feature sets. |
