Which camera would you recommend:

Sony DSCH9 or Canon S5 IS

Is the Digic III processor better than what Sony has.

Both cameras are good butare abit different as far as features and strengths. Here are some items that are worth considering on both IMO:

S5 - Hot shoe for external flash gives the potential of more versatile (bounce, greater flash distance etc.) operation.

H9 - Nightshot give it a "starlight scope" like low light capability.

Some knowledgeable users report the the H9 lens is a bit "soft" in the last 3x of it's telephoto range (which is longer than the S5 telephoto range) but this is probably still better than attaching a TCON auxiliary lens to the S5.
