Several years ago, largely based on recommendations from this site, I bought an Pentax Optio S4i camera so small it fits in an Altoids container. I really love it. Unfortunately, it's time to upgrade and I have know idea what to purchase.

Things I love about my Optio:

1. Size: it's so small, I can carry it with me wherever I go.

2. It takes decent pictures.

3. 3x zoom feature is nice.

Things I'm not so crazy about:

1. The display on the back is small and difficult to see in the daylight.

2. The flash is worthless beyond 5 feet.

I'd also like my new camera to be 10 megapixals or so. I am not a professional by any means--I'm more into snapshots.

Would you please make a recommendation for me? Thank you so much for your site--it's terrific!

Lots of ultracompacts to choose from. Desired price bracket would narrow that down, they run from $100 to $400 (USD). If all you take are snapshots, think twice about the 10Mp requirement. Lots of nice 8Mp cameras out there that give very nice snapshots. Flash range will be a challenge for all ultrcompacts.
