I'm looking for a 4-5 MP camera that I can carry in my pocket, but later I hope to buy an underwater housing for my scuba diving trips. I can't narrow down my choices mainly because I've heard you can't purchase uw housings for all cameras. I like the large lcd screen, at least a 3x zoom, a good aperture for low light when shooting underwater, a viewfinder would be nice, and a good flash. I want something I can use everyday, something handy, but the more manual options the better. I was wondering if these weatherproof, or waterproof cams are worth a thought. I've read Steve's reviews over and over again, but his reviews make it hard for me to decide. One other thing. I like AA battery supply since I can recharge them easily and keep a spare in my pocket, but how do the lithium-ion packs hold up? Price range around $250 since I hope to purchase a nice DSLR this fall. I've looked at the following...THANKS
Canon A520 / A530
Canon SD400 / SD500
Olympus D595
Olympus Sylus models

You may want to consider the Pentax optio. I have one of the older S4i models and an underwater case for it. I like the size of the optio as a go any where camera. I have taken it diving down to about 130 feet without any issues.

You might want to consider the Canon A610 too. 4x optical zoom and 5MP. Its slightly bulkier than the A-series Canons you mention but you might find that an advantage.
