Hi,
I currently have a Sony DSC-S85 that I have had for over 4 years. Its a great camera and have taken over 14,000 photos. Last year I was looking at the Sony DSC-V3 and Canon G6 but did not purchase either. Now I am looking again and these cameras appear to be off the U.S. market Does anyone have any recommendations for which camera to get as a replacement? What are the replacements for the Canon G6 and Sony DSC-V3? I would like to stay in the pro-consumer area, i.e. not go smaller and not a digital SLR. Thanks for your help. Regards, Scott |

The closest Sony camera to the DSC-V3 is the R1. It is bigger and heavier, but by all accounts is a better performer. It has an APS sized, 10mp sensor that gives great low light performance for a non DSLR digicam. On the downside, it is more expensive than the V3 was. The V3 can still be found if you look for it.
