Hi fellows!
I’m evaluating buying a Nikon D5500 body. And my first pick for lens is the 18-140 and the 35mm f/1.8g. Then, I doubt between the 35mm f/1.8g and the 50mm f/1.8g…Which would be your pick/suggestion? If, for example, I choose the 35mm, would be the 18-140 a good complement for a basic kit bundle for general purpose? Or the 18-105? Or what else? Keep in mind that it would be my first DSLR gear… I wait for your comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance! Eugenio

Personally, I'd go with the 16-85 instead of the 18-140 and the 18-135. It's sharper in the corners, and has less chromatic aberration and distortion, though the vignetting at 16mm is not very good.
The 50 has less vignetting and distortion than the 35, and they are about equally sharp, so I'd go with the 50.

Thanks TCav!!!
I will take a look to those options. Initially I pre-selected the 18-140 because I want more reach without lens changing for travel and hiking, but it is a welcomed suggestion. Which would be your suggestion to comlement the 16-85 to have more reach??? 70-300?

I will primarily shoot general family pics, and I also enjoy landscapes, cityscapes.
I'm an amateur,so any money I put in the gear, must lead to good quality lens, but also budget-wise selection.

I'm from Argentina, and we face a problem here, DSLR bodies and lens are waaaay so much expensive than abroad (for example: the D5500+18-140, no other accesories included is around u$d 1300, the 35mm is around u$d300)...so it is not easy to move from one lens to anotherone, so I want to pick the best combo, considering the IQ+budget balance.

The suggested lens selection would be the same if the considered body is the D7200 instead the D5500???

Yes. Those are DX format lenses, so they'll work well on any DX body.

As for longer lenses, the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED is a good choice.
And if the Nikon 16-85 is a problem, the Sigma 17-70 is a very good alternative.

Hi! Sorry for unprofessional question, but on most forums people recommend Nikon. But my friend has Canon and very happy about it. Is there big difference between them?
