:?I am very much an amateur when it comes to photography. Went to Alaska last year with my Canon A95. Going back this year and would like a camera with alonger optical zoom for wildlife pics. Looking at Canon S2 IS versus Sony DSC-H1. Which would be better for a camera challenged person? I will probably need to leave it on automatic settings. Have tried reading the manuals and it is all Greek to me. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated!!

How about the new panasonic TZ1. It goes up to 350mm and has image stablization. Pretty small to carry. Mostly automatic mode.
I have panasonic FZ5, which goes to 420mm with IS. It is nice, like canon S2. |

Also do you have exact size limit? For camera which would be easiest to fit into pockets that Panasonic TZ1 would propably best choise. Also it's wide angle is 35mm, while there's nothing to cheer in that for landscapes, at least that's tiny bit of better than standard. (if you are after those, at least there should be lot of good landscapes in there) |

The Canon S2 IS is defninitely the better of the two you mention. Canon is about to release the S3 IS in May. That's got the same zoom, but hight megapixel and more features.
