Hi,
I am a dentist and I'm going to buy a digital camera which would be used as a dental office camera (andmaybe a family one!). This is my pick-set which is made by searching and reading most of trusted resources available on the internet. I have no practical experience in photography and the "budjet" is not the first criteria, though it is highly considerable. Actually I want to find out which one is the most optimized pick of the list. If you have any information or expriense in the field of "Digital Dental Photography", Please share your idea by voting to (preferebly) one of these items. If there is something to be explained, please let me know. Grateful, Dr. K. Ayazi |

It would seem that you would want a sturdy camera with good macro capabilities. If it werea year or two ago, I would have picked the Fuji S7000. Just for fun, I took some pictures of my own teeth with it. I was very impressed by the detail it captured.
Although I know doing everything with one camera would be killing two birds with one stone, I myself would probably get two cameras, one for work, and the other for home stuff. In any case, good luck. |

Hi,
1. I fixed some parts of my message (in care of its usage). 2. You may choose more than one item in this voting. So, what is your idea now? |

You also probably want to use a ring flash, so if I were you, I'd investigate how easily you can attach one to the choices you have.

Kamran -
If my memory serves me right, I recall the Olympus America website used to have a section or a tab for Medical/Dental applications. Perhaps that would help. You have to admit, you asking about a very specialized application, and I don't believe (I may be wrong!) any of us are fellow dentists. MT |

Lester Dine specializes in Dental Photography and has quite a few models to choose from. I prefer the Pentax to the Canon or Nikon for a number of reasons, but YMMV!
I have the Dine Flash and a Pentax DS on a Pentax Macro Lens and it is a great system. http://www.dinecorp.com/dslr.html Tom |

mtclimber, ennacac,
I forgot to tell something about myself. I'm not in the US and have no acces to companies who make customized products for dental use. Here in my country (Iran) I may get the conventional products of most popular brands like Nikon, Canon, Konika minolta, Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony &Casio. Unfortunately Pentax(specially SLRs), Kodak and Polaroidproducts are not easily availablewhile I know thatthey are brands that offer most sophisticated and specialized products for use in dentistry. |
