Henry's has the XT on pre-order for $1149.99 (~$927USD) (body only).
Aden Camera will probably have it at about $999.99 (~800USD) in the second or third month.

As per the original post, I will not be getting a Digital Rebel (300D), but will get either an XT or a 20D. I have decided on the EF-S 17-85mm lens.

The XT has many benefits that are worth paying the extra over the 300D.
