I think I've gotten it narrowed down to the digital rebel or the evolt 300. Looks like both have 8 mp sensors. The evolt is 715 with the 2 lens kit on amazon. Digital rebel is around 850 with one lens. Does the rebel justify the 150 premium and no telephoto lens? Should I wait around for the evolt 500? It looks like it's 200 more than the evolt 300, but not a whole lot more features...money that may be better spent on a lens or something.

I'm new to dslr's and am not sure which way to go on this one. Anyone got any thoughts?

Hi hayden: I definitely recommend the Evolt; but also look at the newest Evolt: the E-500. Steve's doesn't yet have a review, but there is one at DPReview:

It also offers a two lens kit for a reasonable price: "DOUBLE ZOOM KIT includes E-500 body, 14-45mm (28-90mm) 1:3.5-5.6, 40-150mm (80-300mm) 1:3.5-4.5, BLM-1 rechargeable battery pack with BCM-2 charger"

Well, I stand corrected, just found out thatSteve does have a review of the E-500:
