I am in the market for a new digital camera and am looking primarily at the Digital XT. I have owned a Rebel for about 10 years and think its a great SLR. I have two economy type lenses for the Rebel - EF 75-300 f/4-5.6 II USM and 28-80 3.5-5.6 II USM. I was pretty sure about the digital xt until a friend said I was better off with the S80 unless I was willing to purchase all new lenses. His analogy was that using my lenses on the digital XT would be like putting bicycle tires on a Porsche. He suggested I go with the S80 and call it a day. The S80 appears to be a great camera as well. My basic question is, with the lenses I already have, is it worth it to get the XT or are the lenses notgood enough. Thanks.

if anything though, what with digital SLR like the Rebel XT using only the sweet spot on the lens because of the sensor crop, it might make the so-so lens performs better no?From thefull frameDSLR review on the EOS 5D it just further proves that a APS-C camera is less demending of the lens...
Whats S80? as in Powershot S80? |
