cameras with small sensors like the fz150 (a really great camera, btw), the sx40 and the sx260 have approximately a 5.6x crop factor, where a micro 4/3 camera has a 2x crop factor. sony NEX cameras have a 1.5x crop factor, and canon rebels and 60ds have 1.6x.

the little purple rectangle is the size of the average digicam sensor, including the sx230, sx40, fz150 and so on.

that being said, i was pretty impressed with my fz150, although like all cameras with that size sensor, low light can be a challenge. some people have had great results with the fz150's handheld night mode (or whatever it's called), and i've seen some awesome samples.
