There are a number of retailers online that are offering SUPER LOW deals on new digital cameras. They are selling athard to believe prices.

I personally found a few of them when trying to buy a new digital SLR.
To help someone from not falling into the same trap here is some info.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!!

When you find the camera you want - it pays to research the store you plan to purchase from. Try these links:

Here are some fun horror stories:

I always buy from Amazon or B&H, or sometimes eBay if the user has sold thousands of items and has nearly-perfect feedback.

For example check out thebizrateentry for PrestigeCamera. If you read enough of the user reviews you realize that although PrestigeCamera has cheap prices they pressure sell you accessories. Then take a look at the accessory prices on PrestigeCamera's site... :O!

Here's good site to check for those living in Europe.

Trusted Shops was created in early 2000 in close cooperation with consumer protection agencies. The primary objective was to meet the demands made by leading politicians for better security in the internet – and to confirm to the consumer that this security is here to stay.

The Trusted Shops certificate represents Europe's number one sign of quality for Internet Retailer, allowing consumers throughout Europe to shop safely backed by the money-back guarantee – not to mention a whole range of other services and warranties.

Supported by the European Union, the Trusted Shops system is currently spreading across Europe, with particular focus on the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavia. Today there are already well over 1.200 internet retailers operating under the Trusted Shops security standard to guarantee safe and secure shopping for their customers.
