According to the Pentax manual you can get 850 shots with a set CR-V3's, 750 with AA lithiums, 550 with 2500mAh NiMh, and 90 with the Alkalines(could be used in a pinch). I have not had my camera long enough to tell you how many shots I can get... but so far the battteries have been holding up. I use NiMh, and those do lose their charge pretty quickly, so if your going out for a long day shooting stick a couple of sets on a half hour charger beforehand and that way you will have fresh batteries. I wish Pentax would come out with a Li-Ion that would fit in the camera like it is now. I wouldnt mind Li-Ion AA's.... right now the biggest problem is not battery life, but having no idea how much life the batteries have. All I have is a little battery symbol that has full, half full, and empty.
