A zoom will be helpful depending on what type of photos the op is taking, and if that is the case, but all zoom for pns and 4/3 and emounts stop down the lens, so it will make it harder for the camera.

Here is what you can expect with a zoom on a epl-1
first is at 1600iso, second at 2000iso, the third is at 2500iso, and the forth is at 3200iso You can see the noise as you go higher in the iso range. It would be much worst with a low light point and shoot shooting pass 1600iso

Thanks for all the responses. I don't really want to carry a lot of lenses around since that wouldn't be compact. I'm really leaning towards the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 right now. Anyone own one and would like to share their experience?

I don't own one but user reviews over at DPR are almost all positive, as are the professional reviews. I prefer the size of the S95 and Canon's color, but otherwise I would have purchased the LX5 in a heartbeat.

The lx5 is a great little camera, and you can not really get much better for low light shooting in a point and shoot then the lx5. It is pack with features.
