I have had a film camera for 40 odd years, and now I am looking for a digital camera. I have seen a Fuji S9500 that looks quiet good although there are a few things I am concerned about. Firstly does the Fuji name rank very highly as oppased to Nikon, Sony, Canon etc. Secondly there is no optical stablisation and with a long zoom range shouldn't there be some sort of stablisation. Thirdly, how fast is this camera in terms of displaying images.
As I have not definatly decided on which camera to purchase any thoughts would be most appreciated John |

Not all vendors and models have stabilization.
Fuji cameras with the super ccd are pretty good. So are the cameras from Panasonic, Olympus, Minolta and Canon. I have not been too impressed with my Nikon, and won't touch Sony because of the propriatery storage. Every maker has their loyal following.:blah: Point&Shoots are not very fast operationaly. Fast operating speed, and clean high ISO speeds are still the domain of DSLR's Peter. |

Peter,
thank you for your advise. Would you place the S9500 in the point & shoot catagory as I want to have maximum control with Shutter speeds & aperature settings Thanks John |

John-
Because the Fuji S-9500 is a fixed lens digital camera it is more a "prosumer" digital camera, but broadly speaking it could be classified as a P & S camera. The S-9500 has excellent startup times and shot to shot times, but it has been reported that when using the built-in flash unit, the LCD does balnk out during the flash recharging cycle. The only review of the camera has been done by www.letsgodigital.com thus far. Sarah Joyce |
