OK, so now I'm thinking...they have a Canon A520 for $137. My brand new 2 week old A520 was smashed to smitherins by my daughter...how bad could it be to get a new one from them even if it didn't come with cables or software...I already have that. I guess they could try and pass off a refurbished one for a new one....

They aren't likely to sell you the camera if you don't buy at least some of the "accessories". It will suddenly go on backorder, or come up with some other excuse not to sell you the camera. These guys are crooks and should be avoided.

You've got to be kidding.
Do you the kinds of tactics being used by some of the Brooklyn based dealers? Read Bryan Biggers' article titled How to Buy a Digital Camera without being Robbed Then, read the customer reviews at rellerratings.com |

You're asking for trouble ordering anything from them.
Some of those stores engage in borderline fraudulent behavior. For example, they might charge you more for shipping than they say they would, and when you return it b/c the camera is no longer a good deal when S&H is $69.99, shipping is nonrefundable and there might be a 20% restocking fee. Others might send you defective cameras, or add accessories you did not ask for at ridiculously high prices. A small minority are just outright crooks and will abuse your credit card information. Once more, don't do it. If you're still looking to deal with them, it's your own fault, and don't come complaining about it when they do screw you over. AT BEST, they will just cancel your order when you refuse to buy extra accessories (and probably pressure you and possibly intimidate you over the phone as well). |

For some reason, they can get away with it in Brooklyn. If I lived there, I'd be voting some politicians out of office. I've seen customers say they've reported the Brooklyn based scammers to the authorities there for years. They're still in business. |

Hey mom -
Why don't you just send me $137, and I'll give you the same thing you'll get from these guys - nothing! Thanks, I can really use the money! Or you can send it directly to the Brooklyn Savings bank located here: http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/h0062.htm It's people like you that keep them in business. the Hun |

No worries. After doing a little research with all of your help (thanks!) I wouldn't do it. You've all been great! Thanks again for your input.
