Fuji S2-what Nikon lenses to buy?

I have a Fuji S2 I just bought. I have the Nikon 60 micro lens for close up photography which I do mostly. For general shooting what would you suggest as my next lens? What zoom in the wide to moderate range is sharpest in the Nikon line? A friend of mine lent me his Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 and I was disappointed in its sharpness. So for the long zooms what is sharp in your experience? I don't really need the 2.8 version of lenses unless it is just sharper by nature. Thanks
