On the S5100 can you manual focus the camera by the ring around the lense. Or do you have to do it by the buttons ? I just got the thing and I'm gonna be checking the manual in a second, just wondering if you guys know. Thanks-Sampson

After selecting Manual focus with Focus Mode Selector, you can focus manually by pressing the zoom buttons while holding down the exposure compensation button (the one with +/- on it).
The ring around the lens is a pure decoration. HTH |

S5200 is the same as S5100, S7000 uses a manual focus ring on the lens. It's a "fly-by-wire" electronic type, not a mechanical one.
