IQ, Detail and Sharpness - from what I have seen the FZ28 has the advantage over the H50. Not sure which camera does better in low light environment though.

I agree with Mark's analysis-
I own both the Panasonic FZ-28, and the Sony H-50. I sincerely believe that the FZ-28 has the edge between the two cameras. There are still some Panasonic users who feel that the FZ-50 offers the maximum in sharpness and fine detail. However, I personally feel that the FZ-28 has a better feature set and is capable excellent sharpness and fine detail resolution. Sarah Joyce |

I pulled the trigger on the H50. Circuit City had an open box that I was comfortable with for $339.00. In the store I was able to compare 18 or 20 identical shots with both cameras and I have to say that I thought the H50 had better detail when really magnifying the shots. My method, while far from scientific, showed the H50 to reveal more detail such as thread patterns in a piece of clothing or textures on an object. The shots I took with the Z28 while appearing very good, oftenbecame softer and less detailed the more I magnified the shot. Thanks for taking the time to reply and your opinions!

Mark,
Did you end up buying a superzoom? I got sidetracked and didn't buy one yet. I am still torn between the Canon H50 and the Panasonic Z28. I saw the post on your message where someone else preferred te Canon H50. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Allison |

Oops, sorry for messing up the previous post. I meant the Sony H50. And I meant to add this note to another string.
Regardless, I am looking to buy a superzoom and am considering the Panasonic Z28, sony H50, and Canon S5. - Allison |
