I need some advice on buying a compact digital camera. I'm looking for a good all-rounder in the £200-£300 bracket, maybe stretching to £350. I want good image quality and it must have at least 5-6mps. So far the ones that are standing out are:

Fuji F11

Nikon 7900

Nikon P1

Canon A620

Which of these would you recommend and why?

Which other models are worth considering.

The Fuji F11 if your doing low light indoor shots.

The A620 for 'all round' ability. It has slight longer focal length (more zoom factor) and has a swivel LCD which will help with shot composition.

And if your shooting wildlife/outdoors alot then also consider the Ultrazooms Canon S2 IS, Panasonic FZ5 (soon to be FZ7), Sony H1, Kodak P850.

Come back and post your pics when you get your camera :)

Hi,

I think I'm just about to get the Canon A620.

If you want to think about it more, you might want to look at the Lensmate site for suggestions re teleconverter lenses for the A620, (it hasexamples of alternatives to theCanon teleconverter lens, which doesn't have a very good reputation.)

Lensmate are also about to introduce a micro photography extension too I think.

You might also want to check out the flickr forum specifically for the Canon A620 and A620 - it's good. I will run off & find the link now.

One of the topics is a list of what people who own them don't like about the 610 and 620... On the whole, they seem very pleased.
