Hi Everybody,
I've been looking into cameras in the past month trying to figure out which one I should get, and every time I make up my mind I find a piece of disturbing information...
I've considered:
* Fuji S700 (Large, Purple Fringing)
* Kodak Z612 (No obtainable underwater case, large, prop. battery)
* Panasonic TZ3 (Bad user reviews)
* Ricoh R6

I'm completely lost. Maybe you could help me.
Here are my *must* specs:
* Budget: 200$-250$ (this is post stretching)
* International warranty since I live in Israel.

Desireable specs (I'm aware I have to compromise here, but I want to make as little compromise as possible, clearly...):
* Zoom over x8
* IS
* Compact would be cool
* Works with AA batteries
* An underwater case exists for it (price of which is currently not an issue)


Please advise me on which camera (not only of the listed above, generally) I should buy...

It is just a suggestion, but you may want to take a look at the Kodak Z-712. It has good ISO 800 capability, whereas the Kodak Z-612 does not. And the user reports have been very positive indeed. It sells on the internet for $(US) 230 to $(US) 240.

If you want to, or have to due some rules (as in a museum) require that you not use flash to take a your photo. Then you will be attempting to take a photo with only the light that is present in your photo scene, which in the case of a museum, can be substantially less than normal outdoor lighting. It is then, that you would have to numerically increase the ISO setting, so that your camera can take a good photo in a less than normal lighting situation. I have attached a photo taken inside an optical shop without flash that illustrates the photo situation that I am describing.
