Have you heard that KM is shutting down... getting out of the camera business anyway. Not sure where that will leave me and my 7D. Here's some links for anyone interested.

you will be fine i believe.. sony is taking over the reigns.. with their financial backing and since they make the sensors anyway, i am hoping for good things..

the only fear i have is in the lens department... what will they do with the KM lenses??

Well, someone else I spoke with had a good idea...

(quote from a fellow photograper)...

"if I were Mr. Sony I would take the 7D and 5D technology and make a Nikon and/or Canon mount DSLR, and drop the KM glass."

I like his idea. I think the 7D and probably 5D (can't say for sure since I don't own one) have a lot of potential as far as the body... but I've believed for a while that Minolta lenses are really a bit lacking... not as sharp as Canon and Nikon... not tomention a very limited selection. To think I could put Canon/Nikon lenses on my Minolta would be a dream come true.

Anyway, Iam a bit concerned about it all, butIsuppose time will tell.

I think Sony is in a much better position anyway. KM is a sinking ship. Sinking very fast! It is the best thing to happen to the 7D and 5D. Unless of course Sony starts making the software for the cameras and put root kits on them like they did with there CDs. I will not buy Sony products, but if I see an 5D for a really good price I might pick it up, just dread having to deal with Sony. At least they will not have memory sticks in them yet.
