-
I NEED HELP DECIDING WHAT DIGITAL CAMERA TO BUY. I LOVE PICTURES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CAMERA IN MY PURSE OR POCKET AT ALL TIMES, JUST IN CASE, SO THE SMALLER, THE BETTER. IWILL BE TAKINGOUTDOOR PICTURES MOST OF THE TIME, BUT I WANT THE FLASH TO WORK FOR INDOOR USE ALSO. I'M NOT TOO CONCERNED WITH VIDEOOR WITH FANCY STUFF. I HAVE NARROWED MY CHOICE DOWN TO4 CAMERAS:
PANASONIC LUMIX DMC- FX9 WITH 256 MB CARD FOR $299
CASIO EXILIM EX-S500 FOR $266
CASIO EXILIM EX-S600 FOR $306
CASIO EXILIM EX-Z750 FOR $324 OR
ANY OTHER CAMERA ANYONE SUGGESTS.
THANKS.

First of all please don't use caps in your posts. In e-mail/post tradition it means that you are SHOUTING at the receiver of your e-mail or post. I don't think that was your intention, but you have been pre-warned least you receive a negative reply when using caps.
The Panasonic FX-9 has IS but it tends to be a rather noisy camera.
Among your other selections, IMHO you might want to consider the what appear to be the most dependable and highest rated cameras: the Casio Z-750 or its twin, the AA battery powered Casio Z-120. Another camera you might want to look at is the Olympus Stylus 710 which has a very unique shape that is designed to fit in pockets.

Sorry about the all caps, didn't know I was shouting. You said the FX-9 has IS, what is that?

IS stands for Image Stabilization. Because your camera has to be perfectly still while taking a picture, IS is an in camera system that compensates for tiny movements that the camera user creates when depressing the shutter release and taking the photo.
